Our Story

Built by hunters, for hunters.

Every year, the western draw system shapes a hunter's entire season. The tools to navigate it are outdated. We built TAGZ to change that.

Some of my favorite memories have been made in the mountains, fields, and woods with my wife, my son, and our closest friends. Hunting has never been just about filling a tag or bringing home an animal. It is about the time spent together before sunrise, the stories shared around the campfire, the laughter after a long day, and the traditions that connect one season to the next.

Every hunt creates another chapter in a story we are writing together as family and friends. Years from now, the trophies will matter far less than the memories of watching a sunrise with the people I love, sharing hard-earned adventures, and strengthening the bonds that only time in the outdoors can create. Those moments are priceless, and they are the reason we keep coming back every year.

I grew up in a hunting family. Fall was my favorite time of year. In Maine we hunted bear and deer in the fall and bobcats all winter. Had the privilege of a dad and several uncles that were excellent hunters. Met my wife Karen who had never hunted in 2004. Karen would go with me and chase bears with my dogs and tag along on deer hunts watching her daughters and my son and daughter get deer and turkeys. I have always had fun helping other people be successful in hunting. No surprise that when 2009 rolled around and we found an outfitting business in Idaho we jumped in head first.

2012 Karen decided she didn't want to watch from the sidelines anymore and a huntress started to evolve. Very quickly I might add. We have since sold the business but continue in the outdoor world be helping to form TAGZ. I met Keaton and his dad Jim in Idaho. Keaton packed and guided for me for several years. The idea for TAGZ came as Keaton was on a daily 12 hr horseback trip into one of our backcountry camps.

Hunting has opened most of the doors in my life and is the biggest reason I have been successful. Never know who you might meet around a campfire or on a ridge 10 miles from any road.

I've always taken things apart to figure out how they work, then put them back together.

A builder and numbers guy, I've spent my career at the intersection of hard technical problems and the economics behind them. TAGZ started as an idea to help friends maximize their draw chances, because the western draw system is one of the most consequential decisions a hunter makes every year, and the tools to navigate it hadn't kept pace. We're on a mission to change that.

Proud Ukrainian with undefeated spirit.
